The concept of Four Winds Counseling came through her roots growing up in New Mexico living along side the Native American Culture and their belief in the healing power of the four winds.
“All ancient traditions agree that the air is the same as spirit. The Four Winds remind us of the importance of knowing not only who we are but where we are” – Kenneth Cohen
Melissa has a strong integrative approach to healing both on the emotional and physical levels and believes that given the chance, the body can and will heal itself. By combining both her strong and extensive background in mental health counseling with holistic nutrition, she hopes to help others heal their emotional and physical spheres of life through nutrition and relationship therapy. She strongly believes that each cycle of life has something to teach us and tell us about oursleves, our backgrounds, our wounds, and our greater purpose in this life from those experiences. She also believes that the the body, soul, mind and spirit heal as a whole. Each aspect of our life can infect or invade the other aspect and therefore healing is holistic. She also believes that if left unhealed, wounds can manifest themselves in other forms both physcially and emotionally.
Her background as an AFAA certifed instructor for over 15 years teaching a variety of group fitness classes along side her extensive background as an endurance athlete both as a runner and cyclist give her a lot knowledge to work with that type of personality both nutritionally and the emotionally as well.
